Please join us on Sunday, November 29th at 4pm, as Natalie Silverstein discusses Simple Acts of Care: How to Help When Loved Ones Are Hurting in conversation with Jessica Fein. When someone we love gets bad news or experiences a loss, we want to help but often have no idea how to begin. We worry about saying the wrong thing, so we say too much, or nothing at all. Natalie Silverstein has spent the past decade learning what actually helps and in Simple Acts of Care: How to Help When Loved Ones are Hurting, she offers a practical, warm-hearted guide for friends, family, neighbors who want to show up for someone in crisis, and for the caregivers standing beside them. Natalie Silverstein is an author, speaker, nonprofit founder and podcast host. Her previous books include Simple Acts: The Busy Family's Guide to Giving Back, named as one of the Top Books for Parents Who Want to Raise Kind Kids by the HuffPost. She is the host of the award-winning podcast Simple Acts, Big Impact: Celebrating Teen Changemakers. Along with her husband, she is the co-founder of The Silverstein Foundation for Parkinson's with GBA. Natalie holds a master's degree in public health from Yale University. She is the mother of three grown children and lives in New York City with her husband, Jonathan. Jessica Fein is the award-winning author of Breath Taking: A Memoir of Family, Dreams, and Broken Genes and the forthcoming The Magnificent Maybe: A Quest to Connect With the Afterlife Through Science, Spirit, and Whatever Else Works, coming next March. She writes the Grace in Grief column for Psychology Today and her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Newsweek, HuffPost, and other leading publications. Jessica hosts the I Don't Know How You Do It podcast. (via Newtonville Books)
