Poets Sylvia Jones and Jane Lewty read from and discuss their new books. Jones's Dope Calisthenics examines how spectacle, debt, and the market's demand for performance weigh on working-class Black life, with many poems set in Baltimore. Lewty's Vespers borrows the structure of Christian evening prayer to explore the sacrifice involved in making art. Registration is required for in-person attendance; the reading is also streamed on the library's Facebook and YouTube pages. (via Enoch Pratt Free Library)
