Please join us on Thursday, November 12th, when M. Terrill discusses her debut novel, The Violin Maker, in conversation with Janet Rich Edwards, author of Canticle. In 1950s Manhattan, violin dealer Thomas Barlow receives an unexpected visit from old friend and fellow WWII veteran Jonathan DeWitt, who is seeking his appraisal for an old Italian cello. The seemingly simple request propels Barlow toward a confrontation with DeWitt he has tried for years to avoid when a secret thought buried in war-torn Europe resurfaces. In 1693 Italy, Pietro Guarneri reluctantly begins constructing the only cello of his instrument-making career. The result alters the foundations of Pietro's life and reverberates through the centuries, shrouding the truth of the cello's origins in secrecy. (via Newtonville Books)
