Disorderly Conduct: Celebrating Trans Poetry

A Pride Month workshop led by poet Brody Parrish Craig celebrating transgender and gender nonconforming writers through discussion of contemporary trans poetry and hands-on creative writing exercises. Participants will explore what it means to center trans audiences in literary work while generating new creative pieces. -- "This workshop will center transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming writers in all workshop materials and its approach.This Pride month, join TGNC+ writer Brody Parrish Craig (they/them) to celebrate contemporary trans poetry, generate new creative work & share our stories with one another. We will be discussing TGNC writers currently in the literary community as well as participating in two hands-on creative writing prompt activities. We will ask ourselves & discuss with joy what it means to center trans audiences in our work, celebrate each other, & combat the cisnormative gaze that often shows up in the literary world/publishing. Show up with yourself, a pen, and whatever stories you need to tell! All experience levels are welcome. We’ve reduced the tuition on this class, offered in Pride Month, for all participants."
